Last week after my hands on with Sigma telezoom lens. I wanted to try my hands on flying birds and decided to go to Emmarentia Dam and try few clicks with the slow and steady water birds 🙂
Emme dam is located in the suburb of Emmarentia in Johannesburg. It is said that there are several other dams that make up this one Emmarentia Dam, despite it looks singular. The dam and its gardens stretches around over 100 hectares, but am telling you its gonna take a whole day to cover the whole park. This picnic spot draws an inordinate amount of visitors on a daily basis where you see marriage couples come in for photo session. The park is not so far away, it is only six kilometres from the city centre.
Emmerenthia is located at the northeastern side of the park, the dam is actually a very popular destination for so called energetic canoeists 🙂 true, I have seen dudes making infinite round trips and more over you can see a lot of small-boat enthusiasts. Sailing, canoeing and diving club facilities are housed on the other side of the dam which is Emmerenthia dams eastern embankment.
The suuroundings of the dam is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and runners, on weekends and public holidays the sloped grass embankments around the dam are filled with picnickers with Braai and Drinks 🙂
Now that I had told you enough about the dam, I had also mentioned that this dam is the home for water birds. If you are an amaetur photographer with an interest to click flying birds then this is the place to be.
Here are some pictures that I took this recent saturday with the Ducks takingoff and landing. Hope you like them.
Till next time,
